Fantasy dildos are wonderful. I was always unsure of them at first. But there is something uniquely fascinating about them. Such a huge variety of textures and shapes; there’s something for everyone.

However, one of the major downsides to fantasy toys, is that in many cases, they are on the much larger side; and can therefore be quite intimidating if you are only experienced with typical ‘human’ sizes. Which is a real shame, because I definitely believe that if you ignore the ‘fantasy’ element, and just admire the artistry and textures; more people would enjoy them, if they were approachable.

In many cases, places like Bad Dragon offer products in a ‘small’ size, but even then, their idea of small is another person’s idea of ‘HOLY CRAP, HOW IS THAT GOING TO FIT?’. When we reviewed Cortez the Anthro Avian last year, I lamented how it was a beautifully crafted toy, but even as a ‘small’, it was still a tad on the larger side of what i’m comfortable with. In terms of style and shape though, it’s a nice mix between realistic and fantasy, that might make those who are curious, but perhaps feel a little put off by the ‘animalistic’ nature, might be able to live with.

So with that in mind, the good folk over at Twin Tail Creations set to work to create a more… realistic size Cortez; and boy, do I think they cracked it. The Mini Cortez may be mini by name, but as an introductory fantasy toy, I think it certainly offers a lot. Now, this will be a fairly short review, as the majority of what I have to say about the Cortez was covered in the original review.

First Impressions

As with most of the silicone delights available by TTC, you can customise your Cortez in any colour that you like. You can have plain colours, or for a bit extra, you can have split fades, or marbles or even let them create you a complete surprise colour. As this was sent for review, I left it in the hands of TTC to choose the colour and style for the Mini Cortez.

The Mini Cortez (or MC as I am going to refer to it henceforth) arrived in a plain brown box with a discrete customs label that referred to the item as a ‘silicone sculpture’. Truth be told, I cannot remember what the import fee was, but that is something you will need to consider, should you choose to order from outside the US (I want to say it was around £13?). Inside the box, the MC was packed in a clear plastic bag with the TTC logo on the front. There was a small care sheet included, along with a cute little silicone gear (which sadly, I misplaced; but it was very cute).

The MC stands at 6 inches of overall height (so about an inch shorter than the small) and has an insertable length of around 5 inches (again, an inch shorter than the small). Around the widest point, the MC has a circumference of 5 inches (the small is 6 inches) and the narrowest point at the base is 4.5 inches (compared to 5 on the small). You can choose the firmness of the silicone, and I believe for the MC, I chose ‘firm’ all the way through. On the small, it was a split medium for the shaft, and firm for the base.

The colour of the MC is subtle, but in the right light, is beautiful. The shaft has a sort of cloudy/smoky marbled effect, and at the base, is a gorgeous swirl. I was very excited to give this a try.

In Use

In it’s smaller, more manageable size, the MC was something I was able to use right off the bat without any warm up. For those who are still quite new, I still think the MC’s bulging shaft might still require a small warm up, but comparatively speaking, the MC is far more ‘average’ in size, so didn’t require nearly as much effort.

With a liberal coating of Sliquid Sassy, the MC slipped inside with ease. As the silicone on we chose is a little bit firmer than it was on the small, this really enhanced the texture of the ridges along the shaft. It’s still pretty soft but compared to the small, where it wasn’t stretching me as much, I could definitely feel more of the texture.

Much like the Ambit, the MC has a curve that’s just right for hitting my prostate, and the overall length of the shaft was enough to provide some great p-spot stimulation, but not enough to feel uncomfortable. This was definitely something I could strap to the LoveArc using the harnesses and just ride it until I orgasmed. This is a definite plus over the Small, as because of the larger size and texture, thrusting heavily was just not something I could do. But with the MC, I could and it feels AMAZING.

Since the original review, TTC have now perfected suction cups, so you can have your Cortez made with a suction cup which now means you don’t have to have an expensive aluminium bar to ride in the bedroom (although don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome!). This will see you add an extra $5 onto the price, which I think is pretty reasonable.

Clean-up and Maintenance

All of TTC’s products are made from 100% platinum cure silicone, making them completely body safe. You can wash with warm water, or boil it, bleach it or whack it in the dishwasher. Whatever your method for cleaning your silicone, you can do that with your MC. But i’m sure most of you know that by now…

Summary

OK, so we’re still at over a thousand words, so it’s not really been a short one; sometimes it’s just difficult to stop writing when you are so excited about something. So let’s break it down. In the configuration that I received, you are looking at around $70 (£54) for the Mini Cortez (plus customs). For a solid silicone fantasy dildo, I think that’s pretty fantastic. Obviously you could just get a basic colour for just $55 (£43) which is, again, an absolute bargain if you ask me.

I loved the small Anthro Avian, and it’s pretty safe to say that I love the Mini even better. I definitely think it has a wider appeal than most fantasy dildos. It’s got a fairly ‘realistic’ shape in terms of the shaft and the glans; it just has a gorgeous texture running through it that just steps it up a notch. I’m excited to see if the Mini takes off, because I would love to see ‘minis’ in their other models; and who knows? Maybe more people would be inclined to try something that little bit more unusual. I’m all for it!
