We’re branching out slightly again with content to offer something I haven’t done in the 10 years that I’ve been running this blog – a site review. There’s a first time for everything…
I’m not sure why I haven’t really done this before; but given the rise in sex toys that allow connectivity with various adult content around the web, it seems only prudent that maybe we should be giving these sites a little bit more attention. So the folks behind FeelXVideos very kindly provided me with an account so I could see what was on offer and test out the site with the multitude of connectable toys I have at my disposal. As I’ve never done a site review specifically, let’s layout the criteria I will be looking at:
- First Impressions – How is the site laid out? How easy is it to navigate and find what you are looking for?
- Connectivity – What products are supported and how easy is it to connect?
- Content – What sort of content is on offer?
- Toy Use – How well do the toys sync up with the action on the screen?
- Value for Money? – What is the subscription fee and is it worth the money?
So without further ado, let’s fire up the browser and check out the carnal delights on offer to us today…
I would like to thank feelxvideos for providing us with free access in order to write this review.
First Impressions
For full disclosure, I am reviewing the website through my Safari browser on my desktop iMac. When you log into FeelX, you’ll be greeted by a simple home page that offers a promoted video that takes up pretty much half the screen. Then as you scroll down, you’ll see ‘recent’ videos and then specially curated categories based on certain themes.
The website is easy to navigate with a simple navigation bar at the top that gives you access to the various categories on offer (of which there are many…), new releases and you can even curate your own list of videos you either want to watch or that you watch and enjoy regularly – meaning you can find them really easily the next time you log in to play. There is also an option to browse by ‘Star’, so if there is a particular actor you enjoy watching – you can easily find all videos of theirs on offer. I did note however that it lists ALL actors for ALL videos. What would have been nice is if that whilst under the ‘Gay’ section, it only showed me the actors in ‘Gay’ films. My disappointment of not knowing who people are, thinking ‘ooh they look quite nice’ and then finding out they’re not in any gay content… but oh well! We must continue…
Connectivity
In order to use your toys with the interactive content that’s on offer – you will need to do a couple of things. Firstly, you will need to download and install the FeelConnect app. You will also need to use either your desktop PC or a laptop in order for this to work properly. As far as I can tell, there’s not an option to just purely do this via a mobile. Toys currently supported by FeelX include:
- KIIROO: Onyx 2, Onyx+, Fleshlight Launch, KEON, Titan, Power Blow, Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Interactive
- The Handy (although I’ve not been able to test this out thoroughly as I have the very old version of this device and I’ve been unsuccessful in getting it to connect).
- SVAKOM: Sam Neo, Alex Neo, Alex Neo 2, Hannes Neo
You can check out the reviews for some of those specific items if you want to learn more about them. For the most part, connecting them is pretty much the same – you’ll need to open to app and connect your device to it. Then once you’ve done that, you’ll need to select the video you wish to watch and it will give you a QR code. Scan the code with the app and then it should automatically sync and start playing along side your toy. Everything that I have tried to connect has all been done smoothly and with little latency. This will also naturally be down to how fast/strong your internet connection is. But so far, I’ve had no issues.
Content
The Feel X Site is split into 3 Main Categories; Straight, Gay and for some reason, by itself, Transgender. In terms of content, from what I could gather, there are over 2900 ‘straight’ videos, 252 gay videos and 30 Transgender videos. Already what jumps out at me is the significant difference in content offerings. Now I can only assume that maybe there isn’t a huge market for interactive gay porn? I know gay porn is an incredibly lucrative business but perhaps there just isn’t such a demand for this type of content. However, the focus of this particular review will be looking specifically at the gay content on offer.
After browsing the extensive list of categories of content available, I did not that there were 16 categories that didn’t contain any content (Asian, Blowbang, Christmas, Compilation, Cosplay, Creampie, Femboy, Fitness, Gaping, Hentai, Korean, Latex, Pissing, Romance, Roommate, Swingers). Some of those categories are indeed… interesting? Christmas? Perhaps a ‘Seasonal’ category could work well – I’m sure there’s lot of Christmas / halloween / valentines etc content out there… although none of it seems present here. Ironically, I did see a video titled ‘roommate caught in action‘ however it was listed under ‘Uniform’. Personally I think the categories listings need a little bit of an overhaul – remove the ‘dead’ categories OR actually offer content under them.
One thing to note is that there is a lot of cross-overs as well; a video that might show up in the ‘bareback’ category might also show up under ‘Threesome’ as well. This can give the illusion that there is more content than there actually is. A sneaky little trick but not unheard of. In terms of quality, a lot of these videos feel quite amateur in production – they don’t have the ‘high-gloss’ production values of your big name studios like Falcon or MEN. But I think there’s generally something for everyone here.
There is a small selection of ‘VR’ content available; unfortunately I don’t have the relevant equipment in order to test that particular function out. But what seems to be on offer is some 180 degree videos shot in a POV style.
Toy Use
The general experience is very hit and miss, dependent on the type of content you are watching and which device you are using. My best experiences have come from using the KEON / Fleshlight Launch with full on fucking scenes. Skipping through the scenes to get to the ‘good part’ does little to throw the toys off rhythm – it syncs up *almost* instantly. There’s maybe a second or so of latency, but it’s not really noticeable in the moment.
Here’s a brief recap from previous reviews about my experience using them with this sort of content:
PULSE Solo Interactive
In terms of interactivity; the pulse will vibrate in time with the ‘strokes’ or ‘thrusts’ that are happening on the screen…
…Credit where credit is due, I was generally quite impressed with how well the videos action was translated into vibrations on the PULSE unit. It was certainly a slightly more interesting experience and it was somewhat enjoyable
SVAKOM SAM Neo
the vibrations sync (sort of) but the suction just seems to be doing it’s own thing. Regardless of what video we were watching, the vibrations seem to pulse in time to every thrust or suck – but the suction was just… having it’s own party. It was a little distracting.
KIIROO KEON + Sex Machine Attachment
However, when you mix in the interactive content – that’s where it really comes into it’s own. It syncs perfectly with the ‘top’ in the scene and it really helps sell the ‘fantasy’.
It took a few moments to get to the ‘good part’ but once it did; the Keon thrust into life in time with the action on the screen. Every thrust made by the top performer was replicated with the Keon. It’s a truly immersive experience.
KIIROO Power Blow
Whilst the process was easy; I couldn’t find any video content in my flavour that really showed off the true capabilities of the Power Blow. The few videos I did try; the action on screen wasn’t really being replicated by the Power Blow. It was doing ‘something’ but it didn’t really match what I was seeing.
The key thing to take away is that content does appear to being added all the time, so it’s just a case of experimenting and seeing what works for you – everyone will have their own ideas of what’s good and what’s not. But there’s certainly plenty of room for experimentation.
Value for Money?
Membership to FeelXVideos is $29.95/£23 a month (although at the time of writing, you could get your first month for 50% off). This is roughly inline with what most average porn sites charge for a monthly membership. If you are signing up for the straight content, there is a wealth of material at your disposal which I think does make the membership cost fairly decent. If you are signing up for the gay content; I think it’s a little over-valued. To put it into perspective; MEN.com offers a monthly membership for the same cost and you have over 3700 videos, with more being added every other day. And the argument here would be that you could replicate the video content with your own hands… but where’s the fun in that, right?
Summary
This is a new direction for the blog and as my first ever site review, I am fully open to receive feedback on whether you want to see more content like this, or if there’s anything I’ve not covered that you feel you would need to know before dropping a subscription.
Going back to the site in hand, there’s a lot of positives to be taken away. In general, there is a lot of content at your fingertips, but I do think their ‘gay’ offering is no where near as extensive as it could be. But what content is there, seems to be varied enough that you should easily find some sort of content to enjoy. The actual interactive element, as I mentioned, is a little bit hit and miss but when it does get it right, it can be incredible.
It would be awesome if there was a way of making this work without the need for laptop or desktop set-up. I’ll be honest and say I very rarely feel like masturbating in my office – I would much prefer to do this in the comfort of my bedroom or even my living room – but as I no longer use a laptop – I’m kinda stuck. I don’t really want to have to invest in additional equipment as well! But I fear this is mostly a ‘me’ issue, and may not be such a problem for others.
I’m still not 100% sold on the gimmick of interactive videos like this. I can see the appeal from a live cam show perspective but it’s certainly an interesting concept that I can see getting better as technology improves.
