No, you don’t need to adjust your glasses or get a vision test. You are indeed seeing a brand new review on The Big Gay Review; our first in almost 9 months. And weirdly it doesn’t feel like that much time has passed, but also – it really does. 

I’m not going to bore you with the details of my absence; but I’ve reached a point where I’m ready to begin blogging again. Which is good, because I still have several dildos by Mr Hankey’s Toys to review and so that’s what I am coming at you with today. We are continuing are look at their XS dildos, and if you caught up with some of my more recent reviews (*cough* The Duke *cough*), you might have discovered that I certainly do have a sweet spot when it comes to my dildos. I definitely prefer them on the… smaller side. Our last XS review was a delight (the BFG) so I have high hopes that the rest of the selection I have will be just as thrilling.

Now I know you’re probably all excited to see the review for the Unicorn; but sadly I am going to make you wait for that one – that was the one I always intended to finish this block of reviews off; and you’ve waited 9 months already; what’s a few more days? Today, we’re jumping in with the Dildos & Dragons – another textured beauty that carefully flirts the line between being fantastastical and weird, whilst also having a relatively standard size and shape. Did it score a critical hit? Well there’s only one way to find out. Armour up and lets head into the dungeon..

First Impressions

As with most of the dildos I have received from Mr Hankey’s; the packaging is very minimal. Each toy is created and then just wrapped in some cellophane and…well that’s it. Its very economical and ensures there’s not much waste created (and also creates less embarrassment when you have to throw sex toy packaging away). Dildo’s & Dragons is your classic fantasy dildo archetype; it’s scaly and textured and looks very magical; but it still maintains a level of realism in the sense it’s pretty standard in shape – I always think these are great for people who like the idea of fantasy dildos, but struggle with the idea of using shapes inspired by actual creatures/animals.

This particular model has a stunning amount of texture and is larger than the previous XS dildo we reviewed, but it still sits in the kingdom of ‘just right’ for me. It has an overall length of 8.5 inches with an insertable length of 6.5 inches. The shaft widens a little down the length; starting with a circumference of 5.25 inches around the glans before widening just a little, to 5.9 inches towards the base. The XS versions do not come with the option to add a Vac-u-hole, however the bases are very chunky giving a perfect anchor point. However they are still compatible with harnesses or anything that has an o-ring (so I can still use mine with the LoveArc and their harnesses).

In Use

I chose this particular dildo in the Med-Firm option – as these are smaller sizes, I can comfortably enjoy a slightly firmer finish. This allows me to truly experience every inch of delectable texture there is on this dildo. The entire shaft is covered with an intricate scale texture, with raised bumps at various points. Towards the base, it turns into a texture that sort of looks like hair or fur. There are your classic lines and wrinkles around the tip of the shaft as well, adding to the overall aesthetic of the dildo. It’s got a good squish; and I really like the subtle metallic effect. I’ve been excited about giving this one a try.

Now I have been out of practice for a while; so even though this is a pretty good size for me, I still needed to take my time and get into a little bit of a warm-up. However once I was relaxed and ready, the Dildos & Dragons slipped inside with little resistance. And I could feel every ridge, lump and bump. It was delicious. The shaft is thick enough to leave me feeling full and satisfied – but never made me feel uncomfortable.

There is a subtle curve in the shaft as well, which just provides enough pressure on the prostate as well. As I mentioned earlier, the base of this particular dildo is quite chunky. This allows me to lie on my back and thrust with merry abandon. I do wish however, that the curve was a little more pronounced; as that combined with the texture would be absolutely mind-blowing. Don’t get me wrong, I still definitely had no trouble blowing anything else – it feels amazing – but I did wish for just that little extra ‘oomph’ and this couldn’t quite provide the same level of pizazz than say, the Captain’s Hook for example. Still, I had an absolutely bloody good time – and to felt great to be orgasming this way again.

Clean-up and Maintenance

Due to the intricate detailing of this dildo, I would definitely be paying a little more attention when you are cleaning. I have taken to using a very soft bristled brush to allow me to fully ensure all the nooks, crannies and crevices are fully cleaned. After this, you can choose to boil it, bleach it or toss it on the top rack of the dishwasher (no detergent) to ensure it’s thoroughly sanitised before popping it back in it’s cave to sleep before it’s next use.

Summary

So after learning the hard way, this XS line of dildos is certainly proving to be the best decision I’ve made. I don’t ask for much from my dildos, and the Dildos & Dragons gives with little fuss. The texture is absolutely sublime and probably my favourite thing about this particular dildo. I can’t speak for vaginal use but for anal, it definitely provides a toe-curling ride and I can really feel every inch. I think if the dildo was any firmer, the texture would probably be quite overwhelming – but it’s perfect here.

As for the length and size, again – it’s just at the edge of my sweet spot. It still feels like a bit of a challenge when I’m out of practice. But with a warm up, it offers me the fullness I enjoy at a size that doesn’t make me uncomfortable or endure any pain. My only wish (and it is a very small one and absolutely not a dealbreaker) is I just wish the curve in the shaft was just a little more pronounced. But really, I can’t really complain – it’s another winner in my book.
