When it comes to choosing what products to accept for reviews, it can sometimes be a tough decision. And sometimes, the premise is so intriguing that the decision is instantaneous. This is one of those examples where I was like ‘YES! We need to try this!’

It’s been quite a while since we reviewed anything for Honey Play Box, and when they reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in reviewing their ADRIAN Water Spa Rotating Masturbator; I was like ‘HELL YEAH!’. The concept of this device was incredibly appealing and I can’t say I’ve personally ever seen or experienced anything like what this device was claiming to offer.

Ignoring the fact it has fancy RGB lighting to ‘enhance your mood’ – it’s biggest draw was that it was fully waterproof AND you could fill it with water and change up the sensation based on whether you were using warm or cold water. So I of course accepted the offer and the ADRIAN made its way over to me. I was very excited to see what this could do; so without keeping you waiting any longer – let’s ‘dive’ right in… *giggle*

First Impressions

I cannot fault HPB for their packaging; it all feels very sturdy and tastefully designed – it gives the air of a luxury brand and does make unboxing your new play toy very exciting. Inside the box for the ADRIAN, you will find the toy, an instruction manual, a USB charging cable and a lovely little storage bag. I love when toys come with storage bags! Always scores bonus points from me. The design is really nice and it looks quite sophisticated – the frosted blue chamber blends into a frosted black and is emblazoned with the HPB logo. It doesn’t look like your stereotypical ‘white label’ toy – this looks like it’s had some proper thought and effort in its design.

The ADRIAN is a rotating masturbator; it has 5 different rotating options and also features 7 RGB light functions to create a special ambiance for your alone time. The toy is fully waterproof so can be fully submerged in a bath/shower/hot-tub and you can even fill the device with water; cold if you want to reduce sensitivity and last longer OR you can go warm to increase blood flow and enhance your erection. It takes 2 hours to fully charge and should give around 100 minutes of play time. I was so excited to give this a try; but that excitement soon gave way to trepidation as we started to experiment..

In Use

My first initial ‘head scratch’ moment was the leaflet advises not to use water-based lubricant. This makes sense because if water is involved, well it’s going to get washed away and kind of defeats the point. But the sleeve is made from TPE which doesn’t really react well with silicone base lubricants which is what I would normally use with something designed to be used in or around water. This makes me question why you would have made the sleeve part out of TPE in the first place? So you’ll need to invest in a ‘hybrid lube’. For my testing purposes, the only hybrid I had on hand was this; it worked but it’s not completely impervious to water so reapplication was occasionally necessary.

If you are planning to use water within the ADRIAN, then during a bath or shower is the best time to play; not just because of the risk of getting your sheets wet. To get set up for play time, you need to remove the cap and on the side round the opening, is a little silicone ‘plug’ that you need to open. Next, remove the o-ring and fill the internal compartment with water (I was running a bath at the time so used some of the lovely warm bath water). Then replace the o-ring and ensure the inside and your shaft are well lubricated.

The importance of the silicone plug becomes apparent if you try to slide in with it closed. It’s almost impossible – there is far too much suction. So the plug needs to be open for insertion and then once you are comfortably inside, you can close the little plug. And it holds onto you pretty snuggly. This also helps with creating the seal that stops the water from spilling out. If the device isn’t fully tight then water will spill out. Hence why the bath time play seemed to be a better option.

Once I was secure, it was time to try out the spinning. The two-button interface at the bottom of the device controls the 5 different rotating settings and the 8 different light modes (there’s your basic 7 colours and then there’s the ‘disco’ mode where it flashes all of them. I’ll be honest and say the lights didn’t really do much for me. Sure it’s a fun little feature but you can’t really see them unless you are in absolute low light (and in a bath, that’s probably a little dangerous!). But if you are using this dry in the bedroom, yeah OK it adds a little ‘je ne sais qoui‘.

As for the rotations, it felt alright. It wasn’t blowing my mind – the tickle was indeed pleasant and the addition of the warm water around the outside felt very nice, like my cock was just getting a very nice water massage. However for my own personal taste, it just wasn’t enough. I could not bring myself to orgasm with the device. I needed the stimulation to be turned up a few notches. I couldn’t decide if it’s because the speeds are relatively slow compared to similar devices. Or if the sleeve is just a little bit too wide, and therefore not able to exert enough pressure. Perhaps it would have benefitted from some additional vibrations? Or maybe it’s because this is not a device you can thrust with. The suction keeps you in place and if you do try to thrust or stroke, you risk breaking the seal and having all of that water spill out. You can remove the internal part and use it solo/dry if you so wish – at least you can avoid an unnecessary spills! All I know, is that something is missing.

Clean-up and Maintenance

The ADRIAN, being fully waterproof, is so easy to clean. It disassembles into various parts allowing for an easy and thorough clean. Just make sure everything is fully dry before popping it back together and storing inside the provided storage bag (yes! I love a good storage bag!). If the TPE sleeve and O-Ring get a little sticky after washing, then a very light dusting of cornstarch (or TPE renewal powder) will restore them to their former glory.

Summary

I will say that I do like the ADRIAN as a concept. It’s the first product of its kind that I have personally seen on the market – and I’m always on the lookout for the next great masturbation innovation. Whilst I highly recommend using the ADRIAN in the bath or shower if you intend to fill it with water; you could potentially use this lying down on the bed once you are fully inserted. Once that seal is made, very little trickles out. A towel on the bed would be a good idea! Just make sure you stand up before removing yourself from it!

If I was to create a Wishlist for an ADRIAN version two; I’d love for there to be a way that you could fill it with water but then be able to use it anywhere. A tighter or firmer sleeve would be great and if you can’t physically stroke, then perhaps the inside sleeve could move up and down for you? I’m not sure if that would be possible but something too replicate stroke would really help me. Bung some vibrations in there as well and I might be a very happy chappy. For now, I think if you are someone who enjoys long, slow edging sessions and don’t need intense sensations to reach orgasm – then this quirky little device could be for you.
