So we’re about half-way through our series of reviews for Lumunu, and today we’re taking a look at the ‘Swell’ vibrating anal plug. I opted to review this one, because a) it vibrates b) the tip looked great for prostate play and c) it’s remote-controlled – opening up a whole new range of play scenarios.

The problem I face when reviewing new toys like this, is that once you’ve experienced the heavenly delights of say, the Rosa or the Revo, everything else down there just sort of pales in comparison – so I was already going into this with the assumption that I wasn’t going to like it. And that’s bad, I know it is. But I was determined to let this thing ‘wow’ me, so I gave it several chances. Here are the results…

First Impressions

You should know what the packaging is like now, so we’ll skip right over that. The Swell comes in 2 parts – the vibe and the remote control. The remote takes 1 ‘N’ size battery, whilst the vibe takes 2 AAA batteries (all are included inside the box). The Swell has a screw bottom base with a large finger loop attached, to help with retrieval as this does not have a flared base. It’s coated in soft black silicone that is an absolute magnet for dust.

The vibrator has an insertable length of 5.5 inches and has a circumference of 4.5 inches round it’s widest point. There are 10 different vibration settings; 3 constant speeds and 7 patterns. It’s simple to operate – pushing the on button on the remote turns it on to it’s lowest speed and then you can cycle through the patterns using the function button.

In Use

This is going to be a very short review, because sadly, I didn’t like this toy, and there isn’t really a huge amount that I can say about it. But let’s try and get the positives out the way before we focus on why this toy was a complete miss for me.

The tip if the toy is oddly similar the the Tantus Prostate Play which we reviewed a little while ago, so I was prepared for how best to insert this toy. The tip is firm and with a good coating of lube, slips in easily. As you insert further, the 4.5 inch girth stretches you slightly but it never feels uncomfortable. A test of the remote capability shows that it seems to respond well (I left it on my desk, went all the way upstairs, closed the door.. turned it on, and sure enough, I came down to it buzzing away on my desk). But sadly, this is where the positives end for me.

First, let’s talk about the vibrations. They are weak, buzzy and focused in the wrong place. The vibes are felt strongest around the centre of the vibe, and sadly, don’t travel through the thick silicone tip very well at all. In fact, I found it slightly uncomfortable and almost unbearable – the vibrations are so buzzy, they are verging on ‘tickly’ and all I was getting was a tingly sensation around my ass – which is not something I really enjoy. I think I have a definite preference for vibrations that are deeper, and rumblier – this felt more like there were 2 angry bee’s buzzing around inside.

Because of it’s size and shape, there is a temptation to want to thrust with this – I had hoped that it might help make up for the lack of decent vibrations, but the lack of a flared base stopped me. Whilst there is a finger loop, there is still a concern that you could easily get carried away, and the whole thing will just disappear up there. I feel much more comfortable when I know there’s a decent flared base to keep things safe.

I was really disappointed with what this toy had to offer, but imagine my surprise when just fiddling with the toy, I peeled back the silicone at the base. I thought “Oh my goodness, that fell apart quick!”. But further inspection showed that actually, this was just a love egg with a silicone sheath attached to it.

Clean-up and Maintenance

Lumunu claims the toy is waterproof and a trip into bath seems to agree – just always ensure that the screw-cap is on tightly before it goes anywhere near water. It’s best stored inside the provided bag, as this will attract lint, dust and goodness knows what else. When storing a toy like this, it’s also always a good idea to remove the batteries when not in use.

Summary

I really wanted to like this – I want to be able to recommend a great anal vibrator for those who can’t quite afford the luxury of things like the Rosa or Revo (as I do appreciate these are expensive products) but sadly, this isn’t it. The vibrations are far too week and buzzy, and even with the prober tip, the vibrations are focused in all the wrong places, and it felt less pleasurable, more like I was being ‘tickle-tortured’ and that’s not something I personally enjoy.

If you would like to give the Swell a try, you can order it direct from Lumunu for €39.99 (which is approx. £29.46)
