Tantus Throb Silicone Dildo

I was approached by the lovely Emma from Sextoys.co.uk, and was asked if I would care to review some more products for them. This particular little dildo had caught my eye a while ago, so when I discovered it was in the lovely little package that I received, I was over the moon!

Now as you may or may not know (if you read my last review), I received an influx of cock in all shapes and sizes – including this one, there were 6 dildos that I needed to review – so this does mean you are going to see a lot of reviews for various penises over the next couple of weeks – but I will do my best to spread them out.

The Throb by Tantus is easily the smallest silicone dildo I have, but don’t let it’s size fool you – this little bugger really packs a punch. What do I mean? Well read on to find out…

First Impressions

No fancy schmancy packaging here – just a very simple semi-transparent plastic box with a separate plastic shell covering the toy. But with Tantus, it’s not about the packaging, it’s about what’s inside – and I was very excited to get my fingers on this – the Throb!

Coming in at around 6″ in length and has a girth of 4.5″ at it’s widest point, which narrows down to about 3.75″ towards the bottom. The shaft is covered with a series of deep, intense vein detail – I’m taking SERIOUS veinage. In fact, the more I looked at it, the more I thought “I wonder if this is what Venom’s penis looks like”. With the black colour and matte texture, it almost looks and feels alien – and if there’s one thing I’ve learned about being a toy blogger, is that there is a very real fantasy there… It’s not mine, but it exists.

Like almost all Tantus dildos, it has a harness compatible base, and is made from 100% platinum cured silicone, making it completely safe.

In Use

Because the Throb has a matte texture (it’s not as smooth as others) you are going to want to ensure you LOTS of lube, and take extra care, as there are lots of crevices on the shaft of the dildo – however, it does hold onto the lube really well. So when we first got round to using the Throb, I had a wicked evening planned for the Mr. I stripped him naked, blindfolded him and then cuffed him to the door (and I cuffed his ankles) – so he was now spreadeagled against the bedroom door. After using various implements to build the tension, I lubed up the Throb and got in position.

As he stood at my mercy (isn’t having all the power SUCH FUN!?), I slowly inserted the Throb – and it went in with ease. His knee’s buckled and trembled as those deep textured veins worked their magic on the inside. However, after only a few moments, he asked me to stop – as the texture was just too much for him.

My turn. So after a nice hot bath, I took myself upstairs, got on the bed and reached for the dildo.  With a good coating of lube, it slipped in ever so easily, thanks to it’s smaller size – but because of those intense vein textures, it felt like it was completely filling me up. As I thrusted with the dildo, those veins were teasing my sphincter in a way I hadn’t felt before – and I could totally understand now why he thought it was just too intense – however, as someone who loves a bit of texture – it felt incredible. I decided I would lay there with the Throb inserted, almost like a plug, and started doing other things. The curve in the shaft of the throb allowed it to reach my prostate, so as I moved my hips, it was coming into direct contact and was making me harder. A couple more thrusts and I reached a very happy ending indeed.

Clean-up and Maintenance

Unlike most dildos, the Throb is a bit more tricky to clean. I’ll let Tantus explain:

**Due to the highly textured nature of this toy, boiling or dishwasher use is highly recommended to ensure the tiny surface texture is completely cleaned, no matter what kind of lube is used. The process used to create the skin-like texture of the silicone (in addition to the actual wrinkles) may create small indentations that are normal for production, and simply require a more thorough cleaning. The toy is not, in fact, porous in any way.**

However, if that’s not something you really want to be doing, some regular water, toy cleaner and an old toothbrush works well at getting into those crevices, ensuring it’s completely clean before being stored away. As it’s 100% silicone, it can be stored safely with other toys – but it’s always advisable to rinse it down before use as it does still attract bits of dust/dog hair etc etc.

Summary

As dildos go, it’s a very simple idea, and it works well – it was comfortable to use, it wasn’t too big or too small, it reached my prostate and overall left me in a happy place. For my husband, it wasn’t so much a happy ending – he personally found the texture just too intense for him – and I can totally see where he’s coming from – I certainly didn’t expect much from a dildo of this size, but it really does pack a wallop. I still personally think this is well suited as an anal dildo, as long as you are a fan of textured surfaces. If you prefer to keep things a bit softer, then the Throb isn’t for you.
