I’m pleased to finally bring you the final review of the Sliquid products, sent to us for review by the good people over at Belle De Soir.

So far, we’ve taken a look at the Ride Rub Stroke Oil and the Bodyworx Silicone Lube and Delay Spray. So far, everything has all been received very well. The last thing awaiting review was the body shave cream. As someone who is also a bit hesitant when it comes to shaving anywhere else, other than the face (based on a past experience) – I was curious to see how this would stand up. So, for science – I dropped my trousers and boldly went where a razor has not been for a very long time…

So how did it work out? Well read on to find out…

First Impressions

Like the Ride Rub Oil, the Razor cream is packaged in a simple blue bottle with the same ‘cowboy’ motif. It’s simple, straight to the point and would not look out of place in someones bathroom. The particular bottle I have has a ginger & lime fragrance – but you can also get it in ‘Desert Sky’ (no idea what it is supposed to smell like, but i’m guess it’s going to be quite refreshing).

The scent of this particular cream in the bottle was quite strong. I didn’t actually like it at first – there was a definite overload of ginger, and whilst I don’t hate the smell of ginger, I prefer it when it’s more ‘subtle’. The consistency is quite thick, and in actual fact, kinda looked a little bit like spunk – more than, say – the Doc Johnson Nut Butter.

The cream is made with Mango & Shea Butter (which are really softening and moisturising), green tea extract is a natural antioxidant and aloe vera which is kind and gentle to sensitive skin. It’s glycerin and paraben free and is suitable for dry or sensitive skin and suitable for use on ALL body hair types.

In Use

As I was a little anxious, I first use the cream on my face instead of my regular shave lotion. When it was applied to the face, the smell of the ginger and lime mellowed out and it actually smelled quite pleasant, and if it was used in the morning, would certainly help me feel more alert and awake (thanks to the natural uplifting properties of lime oil). The cream has a thicker consistency then regular shaving foam, so it will ‘clog’ up your razor fairly quickly and easily – but a vigorous rinse under running water clears it swiftly.

I shaved my face and beard the way I would regularly do – and I did notice a difference when I finished. Sometimes, when I shave, my skin can feel quite dry afterwards (hence my need to apply moisturiser afterwards). This time, I didn’t feel like I needed to. My skin was soft and smooth. The razor glided effortlessly over the skin and I was able to achieve the same kind of results as I would with my regular cream. Already I was impressed.

But we all know that the real purpose of this is to help keep those ‘intimate’ areas under control. Usually I just trim – only once in the past have I ever tried to ‘shave it all off’ and, well frankly it was a disaster – I was young, naive and all that happened was I got razor burn, and everything was itchy to buggery. I vowed I would never do it again, but in order to give this a full review, I’d have to put my balls on the line and give it a go.

After a brief trim, I slathered my never regions in the shave cream and began. After 20 minutes of very careful manoeuvring, I stood back to admire the results. It was smooth, there was no red irritation marks and like my face, it was soft and silky. Admittedly, there were still a few patches where the hair was still ever so slightly visible – but there were near places where I was quite frankly terrified to go with the razor (especially when it’s only my second go). But the areas I had managed to shave successfully looked and felt wonderful.

Immediately after I finished, when I put my clothes back on – unlike the last time I shaved, when my underwear came into contact with the shaved area I felt… nothing. It felt completely natural/normal. Unlike the last time, when it felt like I was wearing underwear made of sandpaper. Much happier this time round!

Summary

Well what can I say – it does exactly what it’s supposed to. It shaved my face and my pubic area no problem with no irritation. razor burn and left the skin soft, smooth and hydrated. As an all purpose razor cream it hits the mark, and it’s suitable for all skin types – so even if you have sensitive skin, you should get on perfectly fine with this. You get 255 (8.5 fl Oz) in a bottle which should last a good while (if you don’t shave every day). Does this mean that I might be keeping myself bald for ever? Well we’ll see what the other half thinks and then i’ll decide. But right now, as the sun starts to come out and it warms up – my nether regions have never felt cooler or happier.

If you would like to try the Shave Cream, you can order some from Belle De Soir now for £9.95 for 255ml.
