Butt stuff is so much fun. But these days, most anal toys give pretty much the same sensation. I’m always on the look out for something to just turn things up a notch. And when I saw the world’s first ‘rimming butt plug’ – I thought I had found exactly what I was looking for.

It’s taken me a while to get here, but we have finally made it. MEO made my dreams come true and sent me this exciting and innovative butt toy for review. The unique selling point of this plug is that in the stem, it contains a series of rotating beads, designed to emulate the sensation of rimming.

Naturally, I was extremely excited and couldn’t wait to give it a try. Admittedly, it’s taken me a while to get this one done, as I kept changing my mind about how I felt about it. Hopefully I will be able to explain properly as to why this toy divided my opinion so often. So here goes…

First Impressions

The BVibe Rimming Remote Control Vibrating Butt Plug (crikey, that’s a mouthful!) is touted as the ‘first ever rimming plug for all couples’. The packaging certainly goes out of its way to be inclusive; by showing ‘typical’ m/m, m/f, f/f couples. I sort of commend them for it, because we are living in a world where sex toys are very heavily gender stereotyped.

The rest of the packaging feels pretty luxury. Remove the outer slip and you are greeted by a gorgeous blue box with a flip lid. Inside you’ll find a smaller plastic zip storage case, the remote and an instruction manual – along with the magnetic USB charging cable. Inside the zip case, you will find the plug encased in another plastic shell. The travel/storage case is genius – providing not only a safe storage solution, but it doesn’t look like it’s hiding a sex toy – very discreet.

The plug itself is made from a delightfully silky silicone and boasts 5 vibration/rotation intensities and 6 different vibrating patterns. It measures around 6 inches tall, with 5 inches of insertable length. Around it’s widest point, it measures 5 inches in circumference, and 3.5 inches around the stem. It has a wide anal safe base. In terms of size, it’s definitely for your more intermediate player. The plug is remote controlled and the remote requires 1 CR2032 battery. The plug is rechargeable via USB. A 2 hour charge is required initially – subsequently a 1.5 hour charge should give 1.5 hours of play time.

In Use

After playing around with the BVibe in my hands, I was ready to move on to pop it in my butt and see how it felt. I was initially quite impressed with the strength of the vibrations, although slightly disappointed they were on the buzzier end of the spectrum. But I had hoped that the combination of the vibrations and the spinning beads would be a dynamite combination, and I heeded on undeterred.

The plug is relatively easy to insert, as it does have a tapered tip, although the general width of the plug doesn’t really alter all that drastically, so some may feel like a warm up is necessary. I didn’t, and it maybe took me 2 attempts to slip it in comfortably. Unlike most plugs, the difference between the shaft and the stem is also very small, so there isn’t that familiar ‘popping’ sensation that you get with other plugs, so I only knew I had got it all the way in was when the base started to sit between my cheeks. Still, the plug gave a nice full feeling inside, and it only took me a moment or two to get accustomed.

Operation of the plug is mostly straightforward. You can operate the plug purely by using the bottom of the base – simply press the button once to activate, and then a second time to start the vibrations. Each subsequent press increases the speed, and then will change the pattern (but note you cannot change the intensity this way). This is a fine option for when you pretty much know what you want, and you like it fast. For those who want to take it slower and explore, then the remote is very much required.

To use the remote, press the button on the base of the plug once until it starts flashing. Then press the power button on the remote and it will spring into life. Pressing the plus or minus buttons will increase or reduce intensity. The top ‘wavy’ button changes the vibration pattern. Pressing and holding it down will turn the vibrations off but leave the rotation on. The bottom button controls rotation. There is only one rotation pattern, so presses of this don’t really do anything. But if you hold it down, you can turn of the rotation and just have the vibrations. It’s a little fiddly but it’s good to have the options of using the plug with or without either option.

When the plug is first turned on, it is on the lowest speed. The vibrations are mild but are hitting the right spots, and the stem is rotating and creating a very soft and gentle ‘tickling’ sensation. As you increase the speed, the vibrations become far more enjoyable, even if they are on the buzzy end of the vibration spectrum. The rotation also get’s more intense, but it is still a very subtle feeling – however combined with the vibrations, it does indeed feel very nice.

Turning off the rotations and just having the vibrations was an OK experience. The 4th vibration pattern (ascend) was the most fun here – but it fell back into just standard vibrating butt plug territory. Switching it over and just focusing on the rimming, I was very aware of how subtle and gentle the beads were. It definitely does not feel like rimming, however it’s not an unpleasant sensation – just on it’s own, its very lackluster and boring. It’s not enough to keep me entertained for longer than 30 seconds. I had to bring the vibrations back.

Once the two elements are working together, the sensation is, well just fun. It’s definitely something where I need to crank it up to full speed each and every time in order to fully enjoy it, but my butt is indeed a complete princess and it needs the biggest and best vibrations. But even so, the BVibe got me in the mood, and when used whilst masturbating, it had me reaching climax quicker than when I’m on my own.

The remote works at a distance of around 30 feet, but I have to say, this isn’t the sort of toy that I would ever take out and about. Firstly, whilst the box says it is whisper quiet, it really isn’t. It’s not incredibly loud either, but the rotational beads can be distracting. In a public setting might be a bit obvious. At home, however – they can’t really be heard outside of a closed bedroom door. So for discretion at home – it’s not so bad.

Secondly, the base of the toy is quite large and firm, and it doesn’t really sit as snugly between the butt cheeks as most plugs do. I also found that because the base and stem are of a similar width, it did become a little tricky to ‘hold onto it’. I could sit on it comfortably without incident, but if and when I tried to move around, it would just come shooting out. Not ideal (especially if you are playing with someone else).

Speaking of which, in the right circumstances, that can be fun. Having the plug inserted whilst your partner controls the plug adds a new dimension of pleasure. Especially if you are restrained or blindfolded (or ideally both!). But with the problem of ‘holding on’ – it’s not something I would consider using during intercourse.

My biggest problem with the BVibe is the fact that it’s NOT waterproof, despite the box telling you it is. On the front/side, it refers to the plug as ‘Rimming Waterproof Remote Control Vibrating Plug’. On the inside of the box, it talks about how it’s safe for the shower etc. But in the instruction manual, it says that the plug is designed to be splash proof and should never be submerged. I remembered how Cara Sutra had been confused by this previously, and it took scouring her review to see that BVibe confirmed via their Instagram that the plug is indeed only Splash proof, and should never be submerged.

For a toy that’s going to be used anally, that’s just simply not good enough. With any and all anal toys, I want to know that I can properly sanitize them, and being able to fully submerge and wash them thoroughly is pretty important. So it’s extremely disappointing and sad that it’s not the case here. And this is where I mainly keep flip-flopping. On the one hand, I do absolutely love this plug. The sensations are fun and unique and I want to keep coming back to it. But the splash proof design is just massively annoying because I have to be so careful when cleaning it. I just don’t feel satisfied that the gentle cleansing I have to do in order to not damage the plug is enough. Any new versions of this product going forward ABSOLUTELY need to be waterproof, especially for that price, too.

Clean-up and Maintenance

As the toy is not waterproof, you need to take care when cleaning. I start with a damp cloth, followed by a spritz of VERYCLEAN. This alcohol-free toy cleaner has worked incredibly well at removing ‘butt odour’ from toys.  I follow up with another wipe down with a damp cloth and a final spritz. I will leave it to dry and then place it back inside its plastic shell. Then you can store it away in the included travel/storage case.

Summary

It’s a little bit sad that I had to end on such a low note. In principle I do really like the sensations this plug brings. It’s long enough that it can reach all the right spots. Whilst the powerful vibrations are a little buzzier, they are right in the tip, so they transmit quite well. Combined with the gentle tickle around the sphincter it all adds up to an amazing experience. I find myself craving the plug.

I have to be quite sparse however, because I feel I need to douche every time I want to use this. This is because I can’t submerge it to ensure it’s completely clean. It’s an annoyance especially because in this day and age, expensive luxury toys like this should be waterproof as standard. But even more so when it’s a product that’s going to be used anally. Make it completely waterproof, and I’d have absolutely no trouble recommending it in a heartbeat.
