Sex toys are great fun when used on their own. I enjoy my solo time as much as anybody else. But it’s also just as fun to enjoy in a bit of fun together, so I’m always on the lookout for toys we can use together as a couple.
ETO seems like a distant memory now. Whilst we were there, we spoke with a couple of representatives from Fun Toys, makers of the G-Vibe vibrator (one of the oddest looking vibrators I’ve ever seen… review coming soon). Now forgive me if I have this wrong, but I believe his name was Marco and he was dressed like a roman centurion. He was excitedly telling us about their new G-Plug butt plug and G-Ring finger vibrator.
It started out like any other sales pitch really, and we held the butt plugs and they were nice and then he showed us the finger vibe and I admit I was like…’meh’. But then he used the G-Ring as a remote control. For BOTH G-Plugs. That’s right, he was controlling both plugs at the same time. Now, I was interested.
A few weeks later, a package arrived at my doorstep that included almost all of the range of Fun Toys products (including 2 G-Plugs and a G-Ring) and it’s these that feature in our review today. So let’s get right to it, shall we?
First Impressions
The G-Plugs/G-Ring all arrive in these cute little cardboard tubes with some gorgeous pencil sketches of flowers on one side, and then a photo of the product on the other. As you lift off the lids, inside, you will see the toys nestled inside secure foam padding. Lift this out carefully and you’ll also find a storage bag, a USB magnetic charging cable and a user manual. It’s all very nicely presented and does give the product a sort of premium feel.
The Plugs/Ring are coated in a soft, silky silicone and are completely waterproof. You will need to charge them before your first use – it takes around an hour and a half to fully charge, which equates to an hours play time on high. The magnetic charging point is simple to use, and you can just plug them into your laptop/PC or via a USB wall plug. The plug is available in 2 sizes – we have the large. The plug has an insertable length of 3.5 inches and a circumference of 5 inches around it’s widest point. The smaller version has a circumference of 3.5 inches.
In Use
Naturally, we had to try these out together, and the Mr. seemed pretty keen to give it a try – and I remember his eyes lighting up when they had informed us we could control the plugs together – I’m guessing he was having flashbacks to the time we reviewed the BRUNO/HUGO together, or got to grips with the Tom of Finland Stroker – toys are just much more fun when used together. And I completely agree. But I digress…
Using the G-Plug
Of course, you can use the G-Plug on it’s own. It’s a simple push button interface on the base of the plug. Press it once to turn it on, and then press it again to cycle through the 6 different vibration patterns. Like the BRUNO, when used on it’s own, you only get one intensity level – high.
Insertion was a little trickier than I had envisioned. 5 inches isn’t really all that big, now that I’m more experienced. But I guess it’s due to the shorter length – there’s no real time to prepare yourself for the sudden increase in girth. But with a good amount of lube and a bit of patience, the G-Plug popped in, and there was definitely a significant ‘POP’ sensation. Once it was in and I was comfortable, it was time to try out the vibrations.
Now, unfortunately, the vibrations in the plug are quite shallow and very buzzy. The MR really seemed to enjoy them, but I definitely prefer my deeper, rumblier vibrations. So already, we were polarized. I wasn’t overly impressed but he seemed pretty happy. I was also slightly concerned that the base at the bottom was actually going to be too small, and I was incredibly aware that I was going to swallow the whole plug any second. The incredibly slender stem did help a lot, and at no point during any of our explorations did we actually lose the plug – but it was playing on my mind a lot during use.
Using the G-Ring
Like the G-Plug, the Ring can be used on it’s own as a standard mini finger vibe. Like the plug, it has 6 different vibration patterns, but you can control the intensity of them. It fits comfortably on my finger (which I am so pleased about because I have massive hands) allowing for quick, easy access to the buttons.
The vibrations in the G-Ring are again shallow and very buzzy. In this instance, I wasn’t overly concerned because I’ve found we both tend to react favourably to external vibrations, regardless of their resonance. When used with a little bit of lube, the MR. enjoyed the ring being stroked over his sensitive spots (nipples etc) and seemed to really enjoy when I used the ring to massage the frenulum. But again, for me, whilst I wasn’t as fussed about the buzziness here, I was definitely wishing the vibrations were just a bit stronger. I found I kept pressing the ‘plus’ button, trying to squeeze a little more power out, but I was constantly left frustrated.
Using the G-Ring and G-Plug together
So what sold the whole concept to us was the ability to use both the plugs and the ring at the same time, and have both plugs controlled by the one ring (which can also operate as just a remote control – it is possible to switch the rings vibrations off). It’s very quick and simple to pair the plugs/ring (apparently). Simply press and hold the button on the base of the plug until the LED starts to blink – this indicates it’s ready. Then switch on the G-Ring and it should switch the plugs on.
In our testing, we did have some issues. At first, it would only control the one plug. For some reason, it wouldn’t turn on the plug I had just inserted. Bearing in mind the time it took for me to insert it, I wasn’t prepared to take the plug out to start again. So, in a first for me, I flipped over onto my knees and stuck my arse in the air and said ‘is my butt blinking?’. At this point, he confirmed it wasn’t, and he delicately turned me on. Well, the plug on. Soon both were buzzing, along with the ring. We lay next to each other and just enjoyed the lazy vibrations.
As the action got hotter on our chosen adult entertainment in the background, we too decided to take things a bit further. Using the ring to stroke him, his eyes rolled back as he enjoyed the vibrations in his butt and now on his penis. He seemed to be really enjoying it. And I have to admit, even I had warmed to the buzzy butt vibrations – but I think it’s because here, it was enhancing the sensations we were providing each other. If I were playing with the plug on my own, I definitely would have been bored, and would have given up on it a long time ago. But in this setting, I could really enjoy it.
Soon, the action was moving into serious territory, and I removed my plug and got into position on my back. He kept the plug in the whole time. As he slipped inside me, I reveled in how much harder he felt. Whilst I didn’t rate the vibrations too much, it was certainly enough for him. He thrusted in time with the pulsing vibrations, and it didn’t take long for us both to reach orgasm. It was honestly a beautiful experience.
The uncomfortable moment came when we were trying to remove the plug. The shallow neck and wide base meant it took a lot of pushing (carefully, mind – I didn’t want to blow out my ring) to get the plug out. The ‘reverse pop’ isn’t as pleasant, in my opinion.
Clean-up and Maintenance
Both the G-Plugs and G-Ring are waterproof, so clean up is as simple as rinsing with warm water and drying off. Because they’ve been up the butt, I used a little but if Isopropyl Alcohol to help remove any lingering butt odour – but in this instance, it wasn’t a massive issue as I had douched beforehand. You can use a regular toy cleaner if you wish. You can store them in their provided little storage bags, which are big enough to hold both the plug/ring and their charging cable – perfect because when you live in a house with 2 shedding pugs, dust and hair is inevitable – and my youngest pug has taken to chewing cables every now and again.
Summary
So, I’m still slightly undecided on where I stand with this. For me, personally – the vibrations on the plug were just not strong enough, and nowhere near as rumbly as I generally like (at least when used solo). The MR agreed (mostly). He said the strength of the vibrations was good, but agreed that they could have been a bit rumblier.
With both of us using the plug, it was more of an after thought, rather than the main attraction and as such, it did enhance play as we explored each other and had the tickling vibrations in the background. When used during sex, the plug seemed to work very well for him, and it was comfortable, although like me – he did express concern that the base was a little on the small side, and was worried it would disappear. But as yet, it’s not happened. So maybe it’s something to be mindful of.
The Ring is also interesting, but again, used on it’s own – it’s a little dull and lackluster. But obviously when used as a remote/combined with the G-Plugs, you can ramp up the sensation by having the plug tingle in the butt, and then use the G-Ring to stroke and tease the external erogenous zones. But like the plug, this was better when used with someone else – it’s not enough when used solo. That said, i’m definitely going to take it out again. Maybe in public next time? Watch this space…

The Lowdown | Fun Toys G-Plug & G-Ring Finger Vibrator
Pros: Waterproof, Rechargeable, Soft silky silicone, versatile use between plug and ring. The vibrations are very quiet, so it’s perfectly discreet.
Cons: Vibrations are shallow and buzzy, base of the plug might be a bit too small.
Bottom Line: When used solo, it’s a real let down. But when we could use the plugs together, along with the ring, then they were pretty fun and did enhance overall sensations.
