It’s been a long time since a toy has left me completely flummoxed by it’s ineptitude. When I picked out this toy for review, I was so very excited and intrigued by it’s concept; but sadly the delivery and experience was so underwhelming, I could cry in disappointment.

I do enjoy a good butt-licking. I also enjoy giving a good butt-licking – and I long wished for a way to be able to achieve both at the same time. So when I was browsing the vast catalogue from the lovely people over at MEO and spotted this little rimming machine – I knew instantly we had to try it. I eagerly awaited the delivery of the Silicone Rim Joy (excellent name, by the way /s). As soon as it arrived, I hastily freed it from it’s packaging and plugged it in. Oh god; I can’t wait to see how this worked!

First Impressions

This is not our first experience with Sir Richard. The last time we had one of their products to review, I was so severely disappointed by the whole experience. I was quietly hopeful that this experience would be different – as I’ve personally never seen anything like this before – so I didn’t really know what to expect. “How bad could it really be?” I said to myself, as I opened the simple cardboard box to remove the Silicone Rim Joy and magnetic USB charging cable.

Credit where credit is due, the Silicone Rim Joy is actually very nicely made. Its round pebble shape very discreetly hides what is inside. As you lift off the cover, it starts to remind me a little more of those womanizer style toys – but instead of suction, this is hiding a tiny little robotic tongue. Other features include 7 digital vibration modes, an internal heating mode that allows the ‘tongue’ to warm up to body temperature; and it’s waterproof and washable for easy clean-up/wet play in the shower or bath etc.

In Use

The Rim Joy features a silicone rim that is surrounding the tongue. This can also be removed and provides you the opportunity to enjoy a little deeper penetration with the tongue (although it’s only about an inch long so you won’t get much). The tongue itself moves back and forth at 2 different speeds and then has 5 patterns, for a total of 7 different functions. Although truthfully, in practice these all feel remarkably similar, so it only really feels like 2 different functions.

The tongue moves back and forth and has a shape that doesn’t really look like a tongue, but it does have a nice tapered tip, meaning the vibrations can be pinpointed directly where you want them. The vibrations seemed pretty strong for something so small, although they are extremely high-pitched and buzzy; but I wasn’t so concerned as we are offering external stimulation mostly; and I’ve found tickly sensations around by butt-hole is surprisingly favourable.

So how did the Silicone Rim Joy fare in the bedroom? After setting the mood with some soft lighting, I lay the Mr down on the bed, on his back. With a generous helping of lube on my hands, I got things started with a generous penis massage. I decided to try the Rim Joy first, as a way to stimulate the frenulum. I thought the tongue shape and the back and forth motion would work nicely; so I turned it on and gently positioned the Rim Joy to lap at the underside of his penis.

“What on earth is that?” he said, as the robotic noise started the fill the bedroom. “What’s the matter? Does it not feel nice?” and he sort of… made a non-committal noise. “I dunno, it just feels… weird”. Weird is not good. So it’s time to switch up the tactic. As he lay there, I gentle spread his legs to gain access to his hole and again, whilst keeping one hand on his dick, I pressed the silicone rim against his hole. “How is that?” I said. “Don’t know… can’t really feel anything”. So I pressed it further against him. “Nope, still nothing”. So I retreated and removed the silicone rim in order to expose more of the tongue and we went back in.

“Anything?” I asked, hopefully. “It sort of… tickles. What is it meant to be doing?”. I explained it was meant to mimic the action of a tongue and he laughed. “No, this does not feel like a tongue. It doesn’t really feel like anything at all”. He didn’t seem at all pleased by it. I hoped that turning the heating element on might help a little bit but he just didn’t vibe with it all. “Sorry – it just feels silly and the noise is off-putting”.

I figured maybe he was just being a bit fussy, so resigned to trying it out by myself later. And sadly I can confirm it’s just a little bit of… nothing. With the silicone rim on, you get the slightest sensation, a very gentle tickle – but it absolutely does not feel like a tongue or anything. With the silicone rim removed, the sensation is amped up a little bit, but again – the shallow depth that can be achieved just feels ‘meh’. The vibrations do feel ok – as I said, I don’t mind the tickly sensations around my butt hole – but this just left me wanting more. Much more; but what this is, at this point I don’t know.

Clean-up & Maintenance

The Silicone Rim Joy is completely waterproof, so can be fully rinsed under the tap with a good spritz of toy cleaner. There is not a storage bag included; but the case style closure does work to keep the toy dust free. I can’t fault the design and the build of the toy – it feels well made, and it looks pretty cute. I especially love the discreet pebble design; meaning if I did accidentally leave it out on the bedside… no-one would really have any idea what it was.

Summary

I really absolutely loved the idea of a rimming toy. But sadly, this just lacked the ‘oomph’ that I was hoping for. How would I improve it? Make the tongue a little wider, and maybe an inch longer? Make the vibrations a little rumblier, and maybe have the tongue with a floppier tip? Maybe even include the ability to have the tongue move around in a circle; not just back and forth? I don’t know. I feel any of the improvements could make the Silicone Rim Joy a far more pleasurable experience. To be fair, I think it’s a cute concept but the execution just isn’t there for me. I’d rather stick with a wand massager with a flutter tip or something; that was a much closer sensation (and far more pleasurable).
