Strewth it’s been hot! If you are from the UK, you know we’ve been gripped with some seriously warm temperatures over the last few weeks; it has made getting down and dirty a bit more laborious and it’s been the last thing on my mind … well, I’m sure you understand.

But we must get back to it, there are still items in the pile and we still need to finish these Mr Hankey’s reviews so let’s just dive into the next one! I do realise we have been very heavy on the dildos; and I do have some non-dildo based items in the mix and the *next* review after this one, will not be a dildo! Just to shake things up a little bit. Anyway, we’re jumping in with another dildo from Mr Hankey’s XS collection and this time we’re going all Lovecraft-ian with the aptly named Kthulu. So without further ado, let’s just get straight into it.

I would like to thank Mr Hankey’s Toys for sending us the XS Kthulu free of charge in exchange for an honest review. Some affiliate links have been used in this post.

First Impressions

Inspired by its literary counterpart; the Kthulu looks very much like an octopus or squid-like creature. Towards the tip of the dildo, or I guess what would be the head(?), there are several bulbous protrusions that fade into a twisted set of tentacles. The detailing is very minimal but on closer inspection, there is some very fine vein detailing which looks pretty cool.

Size wise, the Kthulu clocks in at around 7.63 inches of overall length, and has an insertable length of around 6.5 inches. Around the tip, it has a circumference of 5 inches before narrowing and then widening again to around 6.5 inches at the middle. It then narrows down to 5.5 inches as you reach the base. As with the other XS dildos, this one cannot have a vac-u-hole attached but the base is very solid and chunky, still allowing for a good grip and would still be compatible with o-ring harnesses.

In Use

I will be very up front and say that personally. this was not my favourite dildo. I still think it’s a beautifully poured piece of silicone and I can absolutely see where people can and would enjoy this. But I think for me, when I compare it to what I’ve tried before – this one just feels a little lacklustre. But let’s get into it. The Kthulu does require a bit of a warm-up for me; I can’t go into this one cold as the tip is quite large and my butt just isn’t what it once used to be. I need time to prepare.

You can definitely feel the first set of bulges as I slide it in; it’s stretching my sphincter from the get-go. And it continues to leave me feeling stretched and full as I take it all the way to the base. The softer nature of the med-firm silicone I chose does make this feel a lot more comfortable – I don’t think I could take this in a firm. But once you are in, it gives me the thickness without pain I’ve experienced with other larger toys.

The reason why this particular dildo feels a bit lack-lustre to me is that I don’t really feel much of the texture on this one. If I look back over some of the other dildos we’ve reviewed; there is some insane levels of detail and texture on them, and I can really feel it. This, combined with a lack of a curve just meant that whilst I was able to get myself to orgasm using this dildo; I just wasn’t shuddering in ecstasy like I was with something like the ONI.

Clean-up and Maintenance

As with all silicone dildos, clean-up is an absolute breeze. I don’t think I need to dwell on it too much; basically you can wash it with soap and water, boil it, use a weak bleach solution, pop it in the top rack of your dishwasher (sans plates and detergent, obvs) … you do you! Just make sure everything is nice and dry before you pop it away. And also, I just want to clarify that high quality silicone items like this can be stored with other silicone items and they will not melt or react with each other. If you have dildos that are melting or discolouring when stored with other items – they are *not* silicone and I would consider replacing with something more body-friendly promptly!

Summary

The Kthulu is not a bad dildo by any stretch of the imagination. I can see where it would appeal; I do wonder if this would be a more enticing dildo for those of us who are vagina-equipped? It’s a pleasant ride but I was definitely finding myself wanting more and I could never quite reach the level of ‘toe-curling’ that other dildos from this collection have brought me.

That’s not to say that this doesn’t have its purpose. Perhaps for me, I could use this as a strictly ‘warm-up’ device. As it’s got a decent girth; I can probably use this more as a precursor to another toy, maybe a larger one. Or maybe this would work better as a large insertable plug. I will keep experimenting but for now, it’s not one I’ll be reaching for as the main event.
