It still amazes me that after 10 whole years of writing about my sex toy exploits, I still get messages from newbies who have just discovered the blog, looking for advice on toys for beginners. And admittedly, I’ve been a bit slack on being able to offer suggestions… until now.

Whilst browsing the catalogue of exciting goodies over at BabeLand; I spotted this cute little combo pack – the IN’s & OUT’s by Gender X. It’s a duo of a silicone dildo and a vibrating silicone stroker – something for inside and something for outside – genius! I love a good deal; and two sex toys in one box sounds like an amazing offer – so I had to of course check it out. When it arrived, I definitely begun to see how this could make the perfect introduction to sex toys for someone who doesn’t know where to start. So without further ado, let’s hope straight into it!

First Impressions

Inside the package, you will find the dildo and the stroker nestled in a simple plastic tray. It also comes with an instruction sheet and the toy comes with a 5 Year Replacement Warranty (this only applies to defective products and it will be replaced with the same or a similar product). I actually can’t remember the last time I opened a sex toy and it offered something similar; so it’s nice to know if something goes wrong – all is not lost! The dildo and stroker are made from a deliciously smooth silicone. There is a rechargeable bullet inside the stroker which can also be removed and be used for some more pin-pointed stimulation.

The dildo (although if I’m being honest – it looks more like a plug) stands at 5 inches tall, and with an insertable length of 4.5 inches. It has a bulbous shaft; with the first ‘bulb’ having a circumference of 3.25 inches, and then widening at the second ‘bulb’ to 4.75 inches. It has a narrowed neck and a large flared base; thus giving it more of a plug vibe than a dildo. The stroker is 3.25 inches in length and has two flexible arms to wrap around and hug the shaft. There is a rippled texture to allow for extra sensation when sliding the toy up and down. The removable bullet is USB powered and offers 10 vibrating speeds and functions. It’s also waterproof allowing for easy clean-up and some aquatic fun.

In Use

I will caveat this review by saying I am approaching this from the viewpoint of a beginner. Advanced toy players will not find anything here that will really tickle their pickle. But for those who are starting to get a bit more adventurous and are looking for a jumping off point; I think you’ve found a good place to start. So let’s start with the dildo/plug. Personally, I actually really loved this part. The curves of the shaft are wonderful, which means when it’s fully inserted, it has a nice angle that allows some prostate stimulation. The narrow base also allows me to hold onto it nice and snugly so I can move around and do whatever else I may so desire. For those completely new, this is still something you will want to slowly warm-up too – so remember plenty of lube and foreplay to relax you. But once it’s in, it’s super comfortable and feels great.

Once I was relaxed, I lay back and turned my attention to the stroker. Its small compact size is perfect for allowing the vibrations to be focused on the sensitive glans/frenulum. I had hoped that the stroker would be able to hold itself onto my penis, allowing me full use of my hands to do other things; however once the vibrations were on; if I’m not holding onto it – it just slides down my shaft. So it’s not quite the hands-free delight I was hoping for – but it’s small and light enough that one hand is sufficient. The vibrations are modestly strong – definitely not the knee-tremblers that I am accustomed too. But you get 4 decent speeds and then 6 varying patterns but I will be honest and say that on its own, it wasn’t quite enough to thrill me.

However, with the plug inside, it all works together quite harmoniously. The plug is decently filling and works me over from the inside. The stroker is gently teasing and buzzing and if I’m sliding it up and down my shaft it does lead me to a satisfactory masturbatory crescendo. And that’s just using it by myself. Get a partner involved and it’s even better. The strokers low profile makes it a wonderful addition to oral – focus it on the lower half whilst you work the top half with your mouth. A thrilling blend of sensations that will take your next blow job to the next level.

Alternatively, ditch the stroker and remove the bullet and just use that directly on the frenulum. This certainly did a number on me. You can also use it to stimulate other erogenous zones like the nipples or the perineum. But my favourite trick is to insert the plug and then rest the bullet on the base. It’s subtle but the gentle tickle from the vibrations coursing through the plug also feels delightful – so it’s a nice way of seeing if you’d like to try a vibrating toy. What a versatile little kit this actually is!

Clean-up and Maintenance

All the items in the kit are fully waterproof and submersible; so they can be rinsed in sink with some warm soapy water before being carefully dried and stored away in their box. I would have loved to see the brand include a little storage pouch for the kit but that’s not a deal breaker. The items are small and discreet enough that they would be perfect kept beside the bed, ready for their next piece of action.

Summary

I did have low expectations but the IN’s & OUT’s kit proved me wrong. Whilst I’m not saying it’s the most amazing thing in the world, I think there’s a lot of fun to be had here, especially if you are someone who is just exploring sex toys for the first time. It’s a wonderful little kit for some solo exploration but I also think these can be brought into play with a partner for even more scintillating experiences. I enjoy the fact the bullet is removable, allowing you to experiment with vibrations all over (just please please please remember do not put it directly in your butt! I shouldn’t really have to say this but you’d be surprised at the amount of folks who think it’s OK to put one up your bum!)

The kit is a great price as well; retailing for under $60 and you are effectively getting 3 toys in one box. The highlight in the kit for me is definitely the dildo; I can see myself using this quite frequently; especially as part of my warm-up routine for prepping for larger toys (or before sex). The stroker is OK for me but I do prefer my vibrations a bit stronger – it’s not quite enough to do something explosive for me. But in general, I think it’s a great value kit for a beginner.
