OK, so it’s another dildo review – but to be fair, I was sent like, 6 dildos to review.

We’re 50% of the way there now, and I’ve just taken a delivery of several masturbators this morning, so I shall ‘mix things up’ a little bit. Anyway, now that’s out of the way…

In the sex toy blogging community, there are several brands lauded as absolute must haves – Tantus, BS is Nice and of course, Vixen Creations. I was definitely working up to getting a Vixen dildo, as like Tantus and BS, they make their dildos from 100% platinum cured silicone – and when it comes to insertable toys, silicone is one of the best materials.

I was contacted by Vikki from Uberkinky, who asked if I would like to review the Vixen Creations Leo Silicone Dildo for them – I of course said “OH MY GOD, YES!”. Then when I saw it was available in this metallic purple colour, I knew I definitely had to let the Leo into my life (and my ass).

Note: I had to re-write this review several times, because I kept referring to the Leo as ‘he’ and ‘him’. This is why you shouldn’t call your dildos ‘people’ names. If it had been called the ‘Purple Prostate Poker’ we wouldn’t have this problem. /rant.

First Impressions

Firstly, zOMG it’s SO FUCKING PRETTY!! Right, now that’s out of my system… Leo arrives in a cylindrical (ooh, good word) tube container ensuring he arrives in tip top condition. With a bit of a squeeze, I finally popped the lid off, and freed Leo from it’s plastic prison. As far as packaging goes, it’s incredibly simple but works effectively, as it allows you to admire the Leo in all it’s glory before you’ve even taken it out of the packaging.

Leo stands at about 8 inches tall, with an insertable length of around 7 inches. Around the widest point, at the glans – it’s 5.5 inches, which narrows down to 4.5 inches along the rest of the shaft. It has a rounded, flared base which would make it suitable for use with a harness – and it also acts as a suction cup for hands-free play.

Leo is really soft, flexible and has a smooth, shiny surface. I chose the Leo in purple, which has this metallic sort of haze to it, and when in the right light, it almost looks like it’s glistening. It’s realistic, in the sense it has a pronounced coronal ridge and some lines around where the foreskin would be – but there is no vein detailing – so if you aren’t a fan of the overly detailed realistic dildos, you might find this one a happy compromise.

In Use

The surface of the Leo is smooth, unlike the other silicone dildos I have reviewed (the Throb, Brent and Bondara). With this in mind, I found that I actually didn’t need as much lube as I normally would. When it came to use, it actually slipped in relatively easy, and I didn’t actually need to warm up at all before using this. I think as the dildo is softer than the other ones I have tried, it has a bit more ‘give’ and it doesn’t feel like it’s stretching me out too much.

When first using the Leo, during insertion, as the tip is actually wider than the rest of the shaft, there is an ever so subtle ‘POP’ when you first insert, but as the rest of the shaft is only a little bit narrower, my sphincter clung onto Leo tightly and I felt every inch slide deep inside. I found it much easier to insert Leo whilst laying on my side, then actually trying to back onto it (as I shall explain in a bit) – let’s get all the good stuff out the way first.

Thanks to Leo’s curved shaft, it was able to hit my prostate with almost effortless ease. With the Leo suctioned to the floor, I rode it firmly, and with each ‘thrust’ it found my prostate and teased it into submission. The beauty of this soft silicone, is that I found I could comfortably sit with all 7 inches inside me – sometimes, with the dildo’s that a slightly firmer, it gets a bit uncomfortable – but it was not a problem here – I could sit down firmly and just move my hips and still feel incredibly stimulated inside.

It’s not all peaches and cream though. Actually getting into position with the suction cup was a little tricky. I found the the suction was not as strong as it is in other toys, and found it actually didn’t take much force for it to come unstuck – so using it against a wall was damn near impossible (well, at least it was for me, anyway). Coupled with the slightly bendier nature of the dildo, getting into that initial position does require a little bit of wriggling around – but once you’re in, it’s fine – at least as long as you’re not planning an incredibly rough session anyway.

When warmed up with some hot water, the Leo felt delightfully realistic and feeling the warmth on my prostate was a toe-curling delight, and I am happy to report that Leo has given me several happy orgasms. And at the end of the day, that’s all I really want from a dildo, so it does the job.

Clean-up and Maintenance

Cleaning Leo is as simple as spritzing it with toy cleaner and warm water. As it’s silicone, you can also boil it for 3 minutes or even clean it in a 10% bleach solution. It says on the container that you should store the Leo within  it’s original packaging in order to maintain it’s shape. Whether you really need to do that, I’ve yet to determine – I’ve only ever seen Jelly dildos lose their shape when not stored properly – you shouldn’t really have a problem with this at all – I’ve safely stored all my other silicone dildos together fine. It’s really up to you! At the very least, it will keep the dildo free from dust and hair – but if space is a concern, you should be able to ditch the packaging, no problem.

Summary

I’m very glad to finally have a Vixen Creations dildo in my collection, and no doubt I will be adding more to it over the coming months. The soft pliable silicone feels great internally, especially when warmed up – and the curve in the shaft helps make reaching and stimulating the prostate incredibly easy – and it feels great. The initial ‘POP’ when you insert the Leo is intense, but pleasurable – and as this is not a highly textured dildo, it would be suitable for almost anyone. It’s smooth shiny surface means you don’t need to use too much lube, but be aware that the suction cup is not as strong as I would like, and found that trying to use it on a wall or door just wasn’t working for me. It should be harness compatible too, and would make a great pegging dildo for those who aren’t quite ready for the big boys just yet.
