I’ve had a fair few things up my bum this year. I’m not complaining, it’s been bloody marvellous!

But it has made choosing my top picks very difficult as there have been so many great things! So much so, that I’ve broken it down – this post will be dealing with purely the best butt plugs and dildo’s. Other anal items will get their own post at a later date.

So, what made my list this year? Well the good news is, all the products on this list are all made from totally body safe materials – Silicone, Glass and Stainless Steel. Whilst I generally don’t have a problem with things like TPR for ‘penetrable’ toys – when it comes to inserting, it’s got to be totally body safe and non-porous otherwise it just won’t do. Want to know why? Go back and have a quick look at my beginners guide to toy materials. In the meantime, without further ado, let’s start the countdown:

Icicles No. 55 Double-Ended Textured Glass Dildo

1. Icicles No. 55 Double-Ended Textured Glass Dildo

Score: 10 out of 10

RRP: £32.99 / $49.99

Material: Glass (Boroscilicate)

Special Requirements: Consider cooling this down in the fridge, or warming it up in some warm water before use for some out of this world sensations!

For a long time, I thought dildo’s only came in jelly or rubber. I mean, in all fairness, it was the most common material for stuff like that. Then I discovered that they come in all shapes, sizes, colours, materials… and my eyes were opened! I’ve tried several glass toys – I love them. They are so incredibly versatile, and the sensations are always so much more intense. The Icicles No.55 is hands down is my absolute favourite glass dildo – in fact, I think it might be my favourite overall. It’s simple curves allow for some intense G-Spot/P-Spot stimulation, and the swirls and bumps add some interesting sensations that have my toes curling. It’s gorgeous to look at, and not too small or too big, making it great for beginners as well as more intermediate players. It’s a beautiful piece, and as it’s double-ended/textured – you essentally get two for the price of one – bargain!

2. Fleshjack Boys by Fleshlight Brent Corrigan Realistic DildoFleshjack Boys Brent Corrigan Silicone Dildo

Score: 9 out of 10

RRP: £49.99

Material: Medical-Grade Silicone

Special Requirements: N/A

Before I really knew the importance of sex toy materials, the first ever ‘realistic’ dildo I had, was a BASIX Rubber Worx 7.5″ rubber dong. It stank to high heaven, and after a while, the rubber had started to discolour and go hard. I then discovered glass, and vowed that glass would be the only material I would buy for dildo’s – because a lot of the silicone dildo’s just didn’t really do it for me. Then I came across (no pun intended) the Fleshjack Boy’s range of high-grade silicone dildo’s moulded from some of Gay Porn’s biggest stars – and I was intrigued. Brent Corrigan has been one of my early porn crushes as he was my age, so naturally, his would be the first one I got. When it arrived, I was amazed at the quality – it was the most realistic in terms of appearence I had ever seen before. It’s totally body safe and non-porous, and has a healthy girth and length that leaves me satisfied when the glass just isn’t cutting it. It also comes in handy as my ‘penis model’ when I’m photographing toys…

Fun Factory B Balls Jiggle Butt Plug

3. Fun Factory B Balls Jiggle Butt Plug

Score: 9 out of 10

RRP: £29.99

Material: Silicone/ABS Plastic

Special Requirements: N/A

This is without a doubt one of the best butt plugs I have tried. On the outside, it looks like any ‘normal’ plug really – 2 graduating beads with a slim neck and t-bar to prevent unwanted travel. But it’s so much more! Inside each bead is a weighted ball which shakes, rattles and rolls with you when you move. This provides unparalleled sensations, and makes use a hell of a lot more interesting – especially if you like to wear plugs whilst you are out and about – as you move, the weight balls push and nudge the plug meaning you constantly get waves of pleasure. But the best thing I discovered with these, is how absolutely orgasmic it feels when you apply a powerful vibrator to the base of the plug (a magic wand, for example) – it sends those balls into jiggle-over drive and it won’t be long before your clutching at the bedsheets, gasping in sheer delight and pleasure.

Metal Worx Curve Anal Beads

4. Metal Worx Curve Stainless Steel Anal Beads

Score: 9 out of 10

RRP: £53.95

Material: Stainless Steel

Special Requirements: N/A

After glass, I was genuinely surprised to find toys made from Stainless Steel! Is there really no material we wouldn’t consider putting inside us? We can also have Wood, Ceramic, Marble, Aluminium… I’ve got lots of work to do… In the mean time, these steel anal beads are incredible. The curve with the single bulbous tip is AMAZING for prostate stimulation. The size and weight really provides some amazingly intense stimulation – it’s had me writhing around like some possessed dervish on more than one ocassion. The beaded end is perfect too, especially when you whip it out during orgasm… oh yeah. I’m getting goosebumps now just thinking about it… Like Glass, Steel is completely body-safe, non-porous and can be used with ANY lubricant. You can also play with temperature as well for something new. Although I definitely wouldn’t consider this a beginners toy. Whilst the size is perfectly manageable, the added weight might be a bit too much for some people.

Icicles No. 47 Beaded Glass Plug5. Icicles No. 47 Beaded Glass Butt Plug with T-Bar

Score: 8.5 out of 10

RRP: £17.99

Material: Glass (Boroscilicate)

Special Requirements: N/A

This is definitely one of the cutest little plugs I’ve ever seen, and yes, it’s another glass toy! I picked this for my top list because it’s a great size that’s suitable for beginners and intermediates – it offers a good filling sensation, and the graduating bead size feels sensational as you insert it inside (there’s an ever so slight ‘popping’ sensation – which sounds awful, but it’s really not) and the t-bar does actually nestle quite nicely between the cheeks, making it comfortable for long term wear – and as it’s glass, you won’t need to re-apply lubricant as often as you would with something like a silicone or rubber plug (although I personally would NEVER use a rubber plug). And of course, playing around with the temperature of the glass just has to be done too…

There hasn’t been a ‘worst’ anal toy or dildo that I’ve reviewed this year. So generally, any of the dildo’s/plugs I’ve reviewed here, I would whole-heartedly recommend – but the above 5 are my absolute favourites.

Look out for the next Round-up on Friday where we’ll take a look at all things vibratory when we look at the prostate massagers and other vibrators that have rocked my world this year. Also, keep a look out for my christmas shopping round up, where I’ll talk about some of the great special offers my favourite retailers are offering up this christmas.

As always, feedback and comments are always appreciated!
